Dental Chair Weight Policy
The safety and well-being of our patients are of the utmost importance. As all dental chairs have a maximum load capacity, we have established a weight capacity policy to prevent any potential harm to patients if an emergency occurs during treatment.
faq
What is the maximum weight capacity?
Our dental chairs can support a maximum weight of 20 stone/ approximately 125kg, including the patient and any essential accessories or dental equipment. Adhering to this weight limit is crucial for specific dental procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of the patient.
How do we verify the patient’s weight?
If the dental chair shows signs of stress during an appointment, the clinician might ask the patient to confirm their current weight. For those near the maximum capacity, we may provide weighing scales to confirm the weight does not exceed the chair’s load capacity.
What if the weight capacity is exceeded?
Should a patient exceed the chair's capacity, we will advise on alternative dental care options. This may include a referral to a Community Dental Care facility equipped with bariatric dental chairs. Once the need for a bariatric chair is no longer necessary, or the patient's weight falls below the maximum limit, they can return for treatment in our standard chairs.
