If decay reached the ‘alive’, pulp tissue, within a tooth it can lead to an infection within the tooth and the tissue surrounding it. If this occurs it is important to clean out this tissue and bacteria before filling the tooth.

There are a multitude of reasons why an extraction may be the best option for your tooth. It may also be required as a prerequisite to orthodontics. It will be performed under local anaesthetic so that you are numb and we will ensure you are comfortable throughout your procedure.

Gum Treatment.

Gingivitis is the initial periodontitis stage caused by plaque and bacteria build-up. Once the disease has progressed to periodontitis, the immune response can lead to bone and tooth loss over time, so it is essential to treat it. Treatment involves the removal of these causative agents and preventative measures to be put in place.

Crowns.

A crown may be advised as the best way to repair a broken or decayed tooth. It acts as a ‘cap’ to cover the tooth and strengthen the remaining tooth structure.

Tooth decay can lead to cavities in teeth which can be treated with a filling. We offer both silver and white fillings at the practice, both of which will stop the advancement of decay.

Bridges.

If you have lost a tooth and there is a space between teeth, you may be able to place a false tooth in the space. This tooth will be attached to a tooth beside the space with a crown or a wing.

Tooth Whitening.

Staining can occur over time due to foods, tea, coffee and smoking. To help lighten the shade of teeth carbamide peroxide can be used inside fitted retainers.These retainers will be made at your appointment and you can use the carbamide peroxide within them at home.

Veneers.

If your tooth is chipped, stained or damaged a veneer may be the best option. The surface of the tooth is slightly reduced and a ceramic covering is placed to protect and increase the appearance of the tooth.
